Translation Associate Director

Due to a fast growing client base but also significant expansion within accounts, we are looking for a Translation & Language Services Associate Director.  Reporting to the MD, this senior position will drive relationships and client delivery of GlobaLexicon accounts and projects, ensuring consistently high quality and service standards.  There will also be significant functional accountabilities.

The position requires versatility, leadership, client management skills, a high quality mentality, the ability to proactively adapt to a rapidly changing & growing business, and a great eye for detail.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Lead project management team in the delivery of client language services projects
  • Lead relationship management and service delivery for large & strategic accounts
  • Advise team on optimal operational set-up, resource requirements (e.g. linguists, budget, timing) and cost structure based on language project objectives and client needs
  • Proactively lead the identification of any potential operational issues and resolve and close identified gaps
  • Ensure project resources maintain a high level of quality and professional and ethical standards
  • Conduct formal performance assessments for direct reports
  • Mentor SPMs, PMs, Project Coordinators and other staff
  • Lead other functional areas of GlobaLexicon’s growing business as per strengths and passions of the individual

Skills and Experience:

  • BA degree in linguistics/marketing/business. MA preferred
  • Language skills:  Fluent English and native in one other language (French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Mandarin preferred).  Fluent/advanced in third language is an advantage
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing and growing business
  • Ability to lead but also to act on direction and rapidly implement
  • Project management and account management experience (5 year minimum)
  • Experience working in a market research agency, medical/pharma, consumer goods or e-learning environment desirable
  • Experience working in translation agency or translations department desirable
  • Experience working in and driving growth of a multi-location company
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including presentation/meeting facilitation
  • Very strong attention to detail – but also strategic view point
